Meet Kendrick Slan
Kendrick Slan Sr. is a husband, father, community servant, insurance professional, mentor, and candidate for Zachary City Council District 1.
Family Man First
Family Is the Foundation
I am a proud married father of three children. My family is the foundation of everything I do and the reason I work for a better Zachary every day.
My wife and I chose Zachary to plant our roots because of its community values, excellent schools, and neighborly spirit. Raising our children here has given me firsthand insight into what District 1 families need: safe streets, quality recreation, economic opportunity, and a government that listens.
Education
University of Louisiana at Lafayette
I am a graduate of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where I earned my degree and developed the discipline, critical thinking, and leadership skills that have guided my career.
My time at UL Lafayette strengthened my commitment to hard work, community, and service — values I carry into my professional life and my work for District 1.
Faith and Service
Servant Leadership
I am a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Scotlandville. My faith grounds me and guides my commitment to serving others with humility, compassion, and integrity.
I believe true leadership is servant leadership: listening, showing up consistently, and putting the needs of others first.
Experience
More Than 15 Years Protecting Louisiana Families
For more than 15 years, I have helped Louisiana families and businesses protect their homes, property, and livelihoods as a licensed insurance professional. Today, I continue that work through Omega Insurance Group LLC.
Working directly with families and business owners has given me a practical understanding of rising insurance premiums, flood exposure, property risk, claims, disaster preparedness, and the relationship between public infrastructure and community resilience.
Leadership
Past Two-Term President of NAAIA Louisiana
As president of the National African American Insurance Association Louisiana Chapter, I advocated for professional development, representation, education, and equitable access within the insurance industry.
I helped organize conferences and build partnerships with insurance carriers. During this period, membership grew, and the chapter helped host the 2024 NAAIA National Conference in Louisiana.
This experience strengthened my ability to build coalitions, manage organizational responsibilities, bring people together, and pursue measurable results.
